 Bouddha's foot

In China and India, about 5000 years ago, already existed a special therapy by pressuring specific areas on the body.
We find a trace of such treatments in Egyptian, Inca and American Indians civilizations.
The Dr William Fitzgerald, born in 1872, was an American ear nose and throat surgeon from Connecticut. He was the first to use zone therapy techniques on his patients. He noticed that pressure on specific areas of the feet produced an anaesthetising effect on related areas of the body.
Dr. Eunice Ingham (1889-1974), a Dr. William Fitzgerald’s student, who was also a Physical Therapist in Saint Petersburg Hospital (Tampa, Florida), developed what is now known as “reflexology”.
“Reflexology is based on the scientific knowledge that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all the glands, organs and different parts of the body.”
Dwight C. Byers
Reflexology is well-known not only in England but also in Germany and in Denmark, where 15% of the people have recourse to it.
